The whole app, on your own machine
Free, no account, no connection required. What you install is the complete workspace — the cloud is something you add later, or never.
macOS: “Ubimate is damaged and can’t be opened”
The app is not yet notarized with Apple, so Gatekeeper quarantines the download. On macOS Sequoia (15) and later, try to open the app once, then:
- go to System Settings → Privacy & Security,
- scroll to the bottom and click Open Anyway next to Ubimate.
On older versions of macOS, once you have moved the app to your Applications folder, run this once in Terminal:
xattr -cr /Applications/Ubimate.appWindows: “Windows protected your PC”
The installer is not yet code-signed with a trusted certificate, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen flags it as coming from a new publisher. To go ahead:
- click More info in the SmartScreen dialog,
- click Run anyway.
Notarization for macOS and a code-signing certificate for Windows are both planned, and these warnings go away with them.

Every release is published on GitHub Releases, including the files these buttons point at.
There is no Linux build of the desktop app. The Linux side of Ubimate is the sync server, which is a Docker image you can run on your own hardware: github.com/ubimate/ubimate-server. On a Linux desktop, the web app below will be the way in.
A web app comes with the sync plans at launch. It keeps nothing on the machine you are using — it decrypts in memory and writes no files — which makes it the right way in from a computer that isn't yours. It needs a plan with sync, since there is no local database behind it.
The phone apps are still in development, and when they arrive they will come from the stores rather than from here, because neither store will carry a binary that updates itself. They take the desktop app's shape and not the web app's, though: the workspace is on the device, so they work with the signal off.

Your workspace lives in a plain SQLite file with your media beside it. Back it up the way you back up anything else, and turn on full-disk encryption if the machine travels — local data is deliberately readable, because that is what makes it yours.
